Hello sunshine

(jacket & jeans Asos, ankle boots Schuh, necklace F21, backpack vintage)

These photos were taken a few days ago while I was still in Athens. We had about half an hour until the sun left the sky completely, so we had to track it down which meant going up hills where its last glimpses weren't hidden by Athens' tall buildings. My next post will be from Crete where I will be spending the rest of my holidays before returning to London; gonna try to make them extra special so.. stay posted!

What's under the skin

These are three shots by German portrait photographer Anna Bauer. I recently read an interview of hers for
i-D magazine and was fascinated by her interesting and different way of shooting. The images are from her backstage collection, and are shot using large format camera and Polaroid film. In the busy backstage area of catwalk shows, she finds the subject who then must stand still and look directly at the camera for at least two minutes. The results are very intimate portraits; 'the subject is part of the process and therefore they let you in more'. For me these pictures are all about the eyes and their intensity and sincerity. She shoots while fashion is happening, without arranging the portraits which disables the subjects to overthink and just to 'be'.Read her interview here.
